Interest-Free Microfinance • 25+ Years of Service • 3.7M+ Families Empowered
To create a poverty-free society by providing interest-free loans, promoting brotherhood, and enabling individuals to live with dignity through self-employment and enterprise development.
A world where everyone has equal opportunity to prosper. A society based on compassion, justice, and mutual support. Economic empowerment through Islamic principles of Qard-e-Hasana.
Founded in 2001 by Dr. Amjad Saqib, Akhuwat began with a simple yet revolutionary idea: provide interest-free loans to the poor. The first loan of 10,000 rupees was given from a small mosque in Lahore. Today, Akhuwat has grown into Pakistan's largest microfinance institution with over 800 branches nationwide.
“Poverty is not a destiny, it's a condition that can be changed with compassion and support.” — Dr. Amjad Saqib
What makes Akhuwat unique is its model of lending through religious places (mosques, churches, temples). This builds trust and community bonds. With a recovery rate of 99.9%, we have proven that the poor are creditworthy when treated with dignity and respect.
Treating every individual with kindness, empathy, and respect regardless of their background.
Building communities based on mutual support, trust, and shared responsibility.
Providing equal opportunities for all, irrespective of gender, religion, or social status.
Maintaining complete transparency and honesty in all our operations.
